Where We Work

Worksite Wellness

Worksite wellness supports the physical, mental and emotional well-being of all workers in a workplace. Worksite wellness programs can include activities designed to change eating habits, physical activity, stress management and tobacco use. The Worksite Wellness Team is creating a healthier workforce in Miami-Dade County by:

  • Increasing the number of worksite wellness programs and policies among Consortium member organizations
  • Providing technical assistance to support worksite wellness initiatives
  • Conducting and organizing quarterly educational forums on worksite wellness topics

Worksite Lactation Support

Worksite lactation support policies provide women with a comfortable environment to continue breastfeeding when returning to work. The payoff to participating employers is significant: more satisfied, loyal employees and cost savings to the business. To encourage worksite lactation, partners:

  • Increased the number of worksite lactation support policies among community organizations
  • Provided technical assistance to support the adoption of worksite lactation support policies
  • Conducted and organized educational forums on the business case for breastfeeding

School Wellness Centers

Workplace wellness centers provide employees with a convenient opportunity to remain active at the workplace by removing some of the barriers associated with daily exercise. To encourage active living among their employees, Miami-Dade County Public Schools:

  • Implemented three free employee wellness centers in the north, south and downtown areas of the county
  • Created a user manual for the employee wellness centers
Provided hands on trainings on equipment use
