Recreational facilities, such as parks and playgrounds, provide a fun opportunity to socialize and engage in physical activity. To create a healthier, more active environment in park and recreational facilities, Miami-Dade County Parks and Recreation:
- Adopted a Healthy Vending Machine Policy for all Miami-Dade County owned parks and recreational facilities
- Installed healthy vending machines at 25 parks throughout the county
- Installed free fitness zones “outdoor gyms” at four parks throughout the county
