August is National Breastfeeding Month! This year’s 2021 National Breastfeeding Month theme is Every Step of the Way with a focus on the importance of Continuity of Care. National Breastfeeding Month 2021 includes the following weekly observances:

In recognition of National Breastfeeding Month, Miami-Dade County partners are coming together to host 2021 BreastfeedMIAMI to celebrate and build a strong breastfeeding support network. This is a community collaboration to educate, support, and promote breastfeeding in Miami-Dade County. The goal of this very special month is to provide education to new and expecting mothers, fathers, and their families, as well as the community about the importance and benefits of breastfeeding. Our main goal in promoting breastfeeding is to support the health of the babies and children within our community. Breastfeeding is recognized as the normative way to feed infants, and it is well known that infants who are breastfed for 6 months and beyond have significant lifelong health advantages over those who are not.
