Tobacco-Free Workgroup
Mission: The Consortium for a Healthier Miami-Dade Tobacco-Free Work Group Committee will build collaboration with various partners and organizations in order to decrease smoking tobacco and exposure to second-hand smoke in our community. To fulfill its mission the committee will educate, advocate and promote local activism against tobacco and its use.
About Us
The Tobacco-Free Workgroup Committee collaborates with community partners to decrease smoking, tobacco use and exposure to secondhand smoke in Miami-Dade County. The committee focuses on initiatives to reduce and prevent initiation of tobacco use, especially among youth; provide resources for smoking cessation and establish and educate for new ordinances, laws and policies that eliminate secondhand smoke exposure on a local and state level.
This community partnership was created in 2008 and moving forward into the 2010-2011 workplan year, the Tobacco-Free Workgroup key initiatives include working together to achieve the following:
· Policies to restrict the sale of Candy Flavored Tobacco Products 
· Policies to limit Tobacco Industry Advertising
· Policies to implement Comprehensive Tobacco Control Policies in K-12 Schools
· Policies to create Tobacco-Free Multi-Unit Dwellings
